“Organically Rustic: Infusing Natural Elements into Interior Design for a Unique Look”

Have you ever thought about what “organic” means in interior design? We all know organic food is grown naturally without chemicals. So, does organic interior design mean bringing natural elements and materials into the mix? The term “organic design” was made popular by architect Frank Lloyd Wright and has influenced not only architecture but also furniture, art, industry, and typography.

Organic design is about finding the perfect balance between our creations and nature. It’s inspired by the beauty of the natural world and aims to make interior design and architecture feel calm and simple. This approach has become popular and can be mixed with other styles, whether you’re into modern vibes or a more rustic feel.

Rustic design is one closest to organic; this style embraces a natural, relaxed, and aged style by combining the roughness of natural, rustic materials. When you blend it with organic design, you bring in a touch of weathered charm and history, adding an antique feel.

One way to achieve this is by adding a piece of furniture made of natural materials like wood, bamboo, straw, stone, etc., muted or neutral colors, open floor plans and natural lights. Take, for example, our recent project in San Antonio, we furnished a custom home with several organic furniture pieces. 

In this Game Room, we used the Aganos Counter stool, made of goat hide and linen with mindi wood and metal accent legs, a Laney Occasional Chair with goat hide fabric, a mango wood sideboard, and the Traymore Cocktail Nesting Tables to give the space an organically rustic look.  Additionally, the muted wall paint color and natural lights complimented the room theme.

Aside from the mentioned furniture, our showroom  offers tons of organic items. One of them is our  Teak Maze Console Table. This unique piece is made from solid mahogany wood in a rich walnut stain with natural gathered teak branches creatively arranged within the frame.  This is sure to make a statement in any space.
